These are accounts of particular files, not a rating widget. Names of organisations are withheld where the client asked; roles are real.
The map showed that three stationery vendors were the same company under slightly different names. That was not a scandal. It was simply a fact we had been too busy to notice. We put one contract in place the following quarter.
I asked for a category study on reagents because the pharmacy ledger was drowning the rest of the hospital. The note was useful. I still wish they had been harder on the fact that our own receiving dock logs were a year out of date — the map can only be as honest as the dock.
We knew fuel was high. We did not know two cards were still assigned to a vehicle sold in 2022. Giorgi found it by sitting with the fleet book, not by lecturing us about policy.
A longer account: winter machinery hire
A municipality in western Georgia asked for a category study on hired construction plant for the 2024 winter. The invoices named seven suppliers. After spelling variants were joined, there were four. Two of those four were sharing operators and a yard; the public record of ownership was enough to say so without guesswork.
The map did not tell the council to stop hiring. It showed that three “emergency” weekend call-outs had cost more than the standby clause already sitting in an unused framework. The briefing was held in the client’s own committee room. We left printed boards and a two-page note. They ran the next winter’s hire under the framework they already had.
A second account: the university’s miscellaneous code
A state university sent twenty-four months of purchase orders with a single account code covering printing, bottled water, lab glass, and guest-house linen. The full spend review spent its first week simply splitting that code. The closing briefing was quieter than the midpoint: once linen and glass were no longer neighbours, the glass conversation belonged to the laboratories, and the linen conversation belonged to the hostel. Nobody was accused. The chart of accounts was changed the following fiscal year.
